What Is Dasa Sandhi Calculator?
Dasa Sandhi, meaning "the joint of periods", is the stretch of time where an outgoing Mahadasha overlaps in effect with the one that follows. Traditional astrology describes it as unsettled: the old planet's themes are closing while the new planet's agenda has not yet fully begun.

Dasa Sandhi Calculator Formula
Sandhi Window = (Mahadasha End − Final Antardasha Length) → Mahadasha End The Dasa Sandhi formula treats the last Antardasha of the outgoing Mahadasha as the junction zone. That Antardasha always belongs to the planet just before the Mahadasha lord in the Vimshottari order, and its length comes from the standard Antardasha formula. Some astrologers also add a short margin after the changeover date to cover the new period's opening months.

How the Dasa Sandhi Calculator Works
The calculator builds your Vimshottari timeline, finds each Mahadasha changeover date and counts back by the length of the outgoing period's last Antardasha. That span, which ends on the changeover date, is the Dasa Sandhi.

Worked Example
Jupiter Mahadasha (16 years) ends with Jupiter–Rahu, because Rahu comes just before Jupiter in the sequence. Its length is 16 × 18 ÷ 120 = 2.4 years, or 2 years, 4 months and 24 days. If Jupiter Mahadasha ends on 15 March 2030, the Sandhi zone begins around 22 October 2027.

What is Dasa Sandhi in astrology?
Dasa Sandhi is the junction between two Mahadashas, when the outgoing planet's results are winding down and the incoming planet's results have not fully begun. It is traditionally seen as a period of transition and adjustment.
How do I know when my Dasa Sandhi starts?
Find the end date of your current Mahadasha and subtract the length of its last Antardasha. The calculator does this automatically once you enter your birth details.
Is Dasa Sandhi dangerous?
No. It is a period of change rather than a guaranteed crisis. How it feels depends on how the two lords are placed in your chart and how they relate to each other.
How long does Dasa Sandhi last?
Using the final-Antardasha method, it lasts from about 6 months (the end of Moon Mahadasha, whose last Antardasha is the Sun) to about 2 years and 8 months (the end of Mercury Mahadasha, whose last Antardasha is Saturn). Fixed-margin traditions use about 6 months on either side.
Does Dasa Sandhi apply to Antardasha changes too?
The idea can be applied to Antardasha changes, but the classical emphasis is on Mahadasha junctions, where the change in life direction is largest.
