What Is Dasha Antardasha Calculator?
A Mahadasha can last up to twenty years, which is too broad to explain why one year feels very different from the next. A Dasha Antardasha Calculator divides each Mahadasha into nine Antardashas, also called Bhuktis, one for each planet, so you can see which secondary influence is active within the main period.
Astrologers rely on the Antardasha level more than any other when timing events such as job changes, marriage or relocation. The main period sets the overall theme, and the sub-period points to when that theme is most likely to show up in real events.
Dasha Antardasha Calculator Formula
Antardasha Length (years) = (Mahadasha Years × Antardasha Planet Years) ÷ 120 Each Antardasha takes a share of its parent Mahadasha that matches the sub-lord's share of the full 120-year cycle. The first Antardasha always belongs to the Mahadasha lord itself, and the rest follow in the standard Vimshottari order, so their lengths always add back up to the full Mahadasha.

How the Dasha Antardasha Calculator Works
The calculator first finds your Mahadasha from the Moon's birth nakshatra, then divides that Mahadasha into nine Antardashas. Each Antardasha gets a share of the Mahadasha equal to its planet's share of the 120-year Vimshottari cycle.
What the Calculator Needs
- Date of birth: fixes the Moon's position in the zodiac
- Time of birth: the Moon moves about 0.5° per hour, so time changes the dasha balance
- Place of birth: converts local time to universal time for the Moon's longitude

Worked Example
In a 16-year Jupiter Mahadasha, the first Antardasha is Jupiter–Jupiter: 16 × 16 ÷ 120 = 2.133 years, or about 2 years, 1 month and 18 days. The next, Jupiter–Saturn, lasts 16 × 19 ÷ 120 = 2.533 years. All nine Antardashas together add back up to exactly 16 years.

What is the difference between Mahadasha and Antardasha?
The Mahadasha is the major planetary period, lasting 6 to 20 years. The Antardasha is one of nine sub-periods inside it, lasting from a few months to about three years, and it adds a secondary influence to the main period.
How do I find my current Antardasha?

How is Antardasha duration calculated?
Multiply the Mahadasha lord's years by the Antardasha lord's years and divide by 120. Rahu Antardasha in a 20-year Venus Mahadasha, for example, lasts 20 × 18 ÷ 120 = 3 years.
Why do different websites show different Antardasha dates?
Differences usually come from the ayanamsa, the year length (365.25 or 360 days) or a slightly different birth time. A gap of a few days to a few weeks is normal between software.
Which Antardasha is the longest?
Venus–Venus is the longest, at 20 × 20 ÷ 120 = 3 years and 4 months. The shortest is Sun–Sun, at 6 × 6 ÷ 120 = 0.3 years, or about 3 months and 18 days.
Can I rely on Antardasha alone for predictions?
No. The Antardasha is read against the Mahadasha lord, the natal chart and current transits. On its own it shows timing, not the full picture.
